On Saturday, April 3, 2010, the Gnomon School of Visual Effects will be hosting a free, full-day event with several of the artists responsible for the ground breaking film Avatar. The event will cover design and technology with a wide array of never before seen artwork, shot breakdowns and Q&A.
Topics covered during the Design portion will include the design of various elements of Avatar, including characters, creatures, vehicles, props, sets and the world of Pandora.
Presenters will discuss the technology used in creating Avatar. Topics will include motion capture and animation and integration techniques, real-time virtual film making, and live action/augmented reality integration. Each presenter will cover their responsibilities and show behind the scenes footage related to their work.
For more information, visit The Making of Avatar event page.
Space is limited for this event. Only those who make it onto the RSVP list will be allowed to attend. All others will be turned away.
The list is now full. Sadly, I did not make the cut. I had requested the day off from work and was very, very much looking forward to attending. I envy and congratulate all those who were fortunate enough to be accepted. Wish I could attend as well.
