I just want to pass on my appreciation of the La Jolla / UTC store in San Diego, CA. I have just begun my hobby in cycling and was ready to invest in a bike on Saturday. I went to REI and left frustrated as no one could help me find what was most comfortable and the right kind of bike for me. I left REI and wanted to go home but I decided to give Sport Chalet a shot even though for some reason I had been told by others it was less reputable and desirable to buy at Sport Chalet than REI. Well, they're completely wrong! Nikko at the bike shop was possibly the most knowledgeable sales associate I have EVER encountered. I used to work for Royal Robbins so I know the detail one has to be aware of in the outdoor / sports industry and he really knew his stuff. He went a step beyond and offered us suggestions of riding groups, tips on lighting safety, and wasn't too pushy about accessories but did upsell and get me outfitted with what I need. That's how I work. I believe very strongly in work ethic. Nice to see it appreciated. It was the first I'd seen of this email. Figured it would come down after I left anyway, so I took the copy with me.
The manager was also very helpful and pleasant throughout my purchase. I couldn't be more pleased and because of Nikko, my boyfriend has been converted from an REI loyalist and will be buying his next roadbike from Sport Chalet next month!
Thank you!
