Well, I made it. Getting acquainted with the city and the surrounding areas. Spent my first weekend here in DC. Spent the past weekend in New York. Both cities are relatively close by. Only about a two- to three-hour bus ride away.
Everything arrived via USPS safe and sound. Taking my time in finding a place for everything. Finally got my computer set up today. Ready and eager to start getting back to work. Been out in the city looking for jobs and networking along the way. Most of my efforts have been directed toward the local game development and cycling communities. Both fields are dominated by small businesses. Although, the same can be said about most businesses throughout Philadelphia. It's an unfamiliar condition to me, coming from California where large chains are common place and the preferred market place, eclipsing the smaller, privately owned business establishments. I find it charming. I also find it to be more accessible in a way, community based instead of hidden behind a corporate veil.
